Road Safety Audits
Independent audits of new road and traffic schemes at feasibility, preliminary design, detailed design and pre-opening stages, so problems are caught on paper and not on the road.

Long crossing with no refuge. Add a central island so people cross one direction at a time.
Building blocks the driver's view. Clear the sight line or move the stop line forward.
Bay too short, so vehicles queue in the live lane. Lengthen the bay and keep boarding away from traffic.

About MexPro
MexPro provides independent, evidence-based road safety services to road authorities, engineers, developers and transport operators. We apply internationally recognised Road Safety Audit methods to Tanzanian roads, so that what gets designed and built works for the people who use it most: pedestrians, cyclists, bodaboda and bajaji riders, daladala passengers and drivers.
We also believe road safety goes beyond engineering. Through the #TranShift movement we advocate for public transport that is safe, reliable and dignified for every Tanzanian.
What we do
Independent audits of new road and traffic schemes at feasibility, preliminary design, detailed design and pre-opening stages, so problems are caught on paper and not on the road.
Systematic on-site inspections of existing roads to identify hazards, crash risk locations and low-cost, high-impact improvements.
Analysis of crash data and high-risk locations to find root causes and prioritise interventions where they will save the most lives.
Assessments of bus stops, terminals, BRT corridors, daladala routes and pedestrian access, with practical recommendations for operators and authorities.
Road safety awareness and audit training for engineers, planners, transport operators, drivers and schools.
Technical input to road safety policy, standards and public campaigns, connecting engineering evidence to public action.
How a road safety audit works
A Road Safety Audit is a formal, independent check of a road or traffic scheme by a qualified team. Problems cost far less to fix on a drawing than after a crash.
Review route options, junction strategy and design standards.
Check layouts, alignment, junction types and provision for pedestrians.
Examine signs, markings, lighting, barriers, drainage and crossings.
Drive, walk and inspect the finished scheme by day and by night before it opens.
Monitor how the road actually performs and recommend fixes.
A movement by MexPro
Shifting Tanzania towards safer roads and better public transport.
#TranShift is a public campaign started by Innocent Kyara to change how we think about getting around. It calls on road users, operators and decision-makers to make every trip safe, accessible and dignified, whether you travel by daladala, BRT, bajaji, bodaboda, or on foot.
Audited, well-designed roads that forgive human error.
Roadworthy, well-maintained public transport fleets.
Responsible driving, riding and walking, every day.
Reliable, accessible and dignified journeys for all.
